Tinsel painting is a craft with a long tradition, is a special form of painting in which the design is inked in black on the reverse side of glass and filled in with transparent colors. When the glass is put in the frame, a piece of crumpled aluminum foil is placed behind it so that the light passing through the transparent paint reflects off the foil giving a special dazzling quality.
